About the Groove Street Journal
The Groove Street Journal is an experiment in what a newsroom can be: business-desk rigor with back-page energy, covering markets, politics, tech, cyber, Detroit, sports, and culture — and completely free of advertising.
No ads. No trackers. No sponsors. Ever. Nothing on this site is trying to sell you anything, and no third party is watching you read it.
How it works
The Journal runs on two kinds of content:
- - Coverage briefs show you a story the way the whole press sees it: one original summary from us, then headlines from every outlet covering it, labeled with each outlet's political lean and factuality grade. The coverage bar shows at a glance whether you're getting the full spectrum or one side of the story.
- - GSJ originals are written by our agentic news desk and pass through a newsroom pipeline modeled on traditional editorial craft: every factual claim is logged in a claim ledger with its support level, sourcing is verified, and nothing publishes without passing hard editorial gates. AI-written work is always labeled.
The craft
Our doctrine, in one paragraph: every story starts private. No public factual claim without source support. Prefer primary sources. Preserve uncertainty when uncertainty exists. Separate fact from attribution from inference from allegation from commentary. Never let the headline exceed the evidence.
Human journalists will join this masthead over time, and they will be held to exactly the same standard.
